Does God care about civil government?

The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ – Matthew 22:39

Brooklyn_Museum_-_The_Scribe_Stood_to_Tempt_Jesus_Le_scribe_se_leva_pour_tenter_Jésus_-_James_Tissot_-_overallJesus commanded that we love people. There’s a problem here. You can not love your neighbor if you don’t know how to do it. Christians must take time to discover how to love people in all spheres of society. Every relationship we have must come into alignment with God and His laws of love.  This includes my marriage, my father daughter relationship, economic relationships of boss and worker or seller and buyer, education relationships of student and teacher, and yes even governmental relationships of citizen and representative.

You can not love your neighbor if you don’t know how to do it. I can’t operate in tyranny and be loving the people under my control.

Study the Bible on how to relate, and apply it to every relationship. The Kingdom of God will expand. The world will be different. .

The 2012 Elections, God’s Grief, and Our Response

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.

Because you have rejected knowledge,

I also will reject you from being My priest.

Since you have forgotten the law of your God,

I also will forget your children. – Hosea 4:6

Today I am grieving for our nation and for my community. The Presidential election was bad news with greater implications than I can bear to delve into. President Obama won by an overwhelming majority. The Democrats hold the majority in the Senate. Two states voted to support homosexual marriage. Two states voted to support legalizing recreational marijuana. Altogether this is a concise yet horrific picture of where our people are. This is what America and my community wanted, but it is not okay.

I believe God is grieving for us today. He wasn’t surprised, but I believe He is hurt to see a really special people rejecting His ways.

So what happened? America has gone the way of Israel from the wilderness through Babylonian captivity. They forgot the law of their God. They did not train their children. They did not disciple. They were destroyed for a lack of knowledge, or clearer, because they rejected knowledge. The result? God rejected them for their special role as mediators between God and the world, and their children suffered. The families of our country stopped discipling their children and turned them over to the Socialist driven public schools. Today there is a deficit of understanding when it comes to moral absolutes. What now is the standard, if not the Bible? I reluctantly say that the standard is us. Humanism. The end of all being is the happiness of man. This is called selfishness.

The real question is what do we do from here? Well, it won’t be easy or quick. We may see forty years of wandering in the desert. I pray we don’t have to see any form of national judgment. Israel’s sin came to an end by a series of extreme and sad judgments. Ultimately they were held in captivity in Babylon. After hundreds of years of sin and consequences they came out clean and whole.

America does not have to take that route. We can return to God, and we can disciple our children. If you love America, and you love God, commit to Him. Commit to His ways and His plans for families, communities and nations. Forty years later we can once again be a people who make decisions out of supreme love for God instead of a supreme desire for personal happiness and pleasure.

Grieve with me. Pray with me. Hope in God alone.
